Jumping to New Opportunities month!
We’re half way through the year, which is also a perfect time to stop, reflect how far we have come and where we want to go. In Australia, 1st July each year also marks the first day of a New Financial Year!
So, July is Jumping to the New Opportunities month!
As I reflect, past 6 months have been fast paced, exciting and jam packed with activities, personally and professionally. I am ready for new opportunities and abundance. I welcome it with all my heart and open arms.
At the same time thou, I am also ready to honor my need to be a hermit some days as the winter rain washes away anything that does not serve me, providing space for new and exciting.
Are you ready?
Are you ready to accept the opportunity that presents itself to you? Are you ready to get out of your comfort zone and try something new?
I clearly remember a conversation I had with my dad 10 years ago. We were sitting in a car on a busy road intersection, and the traffic light was red.
“When are you going to have a baby?”, he asked. Angrily I said that I was not ready. He said: “Why aren’t you ready?”. “Because I want to buy a bigger house. Then we want to get a new car. Then we want to go on a European holiday…” I responded.
Then there was silence…
“Then after that you will want to go to another holiday, and another. Then your car will get old and you will need another. If everyone waited until they are ready to do anything in life, no one would ever do anything. Nothing can prepare you for parenthood.
You are sabotaging yourself by making excuses. Procrastination is linked to perfectionism, and I have news for you, perfect world where everything is perfect, actually does not exist. Actually it does – in the movies!” he said.
Holly guacamole!!! A casual trip to the shops, turned into a Dalai Lama moment!
As you can see, this conversation and the image of the exact traffic light and the road crossing is clear as day as I write this today. The point of this story is, don’t wait until you are ready to jump to the opportunity.
By being so tunneled vision about a particular destination you might miss out on even better opportunities along the way. Listen to signs along the way.
As for the baby conversation with my dad. Sometimes some plans and goals are out of our control, we don’t always choose when to have a baby or not. It is not as simple as that.
But the moral of the story is: Jump to the opportunity and do not wait until you are 100% ready, as it may never be!
